Crashes involving pedestrians were extracted from the overall crash data sets for additional scrutiny and review. These crashes, despite there being relatively few of them, account for a disproportionate share of injuries and fatalities due to crashes. The pedestrian crashes were assigned to the nearest segment and the 250 foot radius at each intersection was removed for this analysis.
A series of high crash lists and maps were created, which identify the segments with the following:
· The greatest number of pedestrian crashes
· The greatest number of pedestrian crashes per mileUnlike the other analyses, neither a crash rate nor a crash severity index was part of this analysis. In order to assist in identifying high crash segments, crashes that occurred during the ten-year period from 2005 to 2014 were included in this analysis.
